Randall Donohue grew up on his family’s wheat and cattle ranch in the State of Washington. He married Virginia Grubb in 1969. A year later, the couple went to India as U.S. Peace Corps volunteers in horticulture and nutrition. In 1972, they returned to Olympia, Washington, where Randall joined the State Department of Natural Resources. In 1979, Governor Dixy Lee Ray appointed Randall to manage the State’s first overseas trade office, and the Donohues moved to Singapore with their two young sons. Randall represented the Washington Apple Commission, and in 1982 became regional director for the National Renderers Association, covering 14 country-markets from the U.S. Agricultural Trade Office.
Part-time lecturing at the Asia-Pacific Management Institute led Randall to join Ngee Ann Polytechnic in 1992 as a foundation faculty member in Singapore’s new mass communication program. After more than 20 years in Asia, Randall joined the Business School faculty at California Lutheran University in 1999. He completed his Ph.D. in international business management in 2003, was elected to tenure in March, 2004, and promoted to Associate Professor in 2005.
