In addition to academic research, practical research is vital for developing strategies to improved the public relationships of organizational clients. Such research projects are proprietary and vary according to client's needs and objectives.
Dr. Donohue’s research projects have involved mainly international business management, marketing and public relations. Of particular interest has been research to enhance corporate social responsibility, and collaboration between commercial and non-profit organizations. A related research area involves trade and globalization effects local economies and societies in the Asia-Pacific regions.
In 2003, Dr. Donohue completed a multi-year study analyzing the public relations practices of Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC), a group of 21 economies working to facilitate trade and investment in a huge region around the Pacific Rim. Findings from the study suggested particular PR strategies and tactics to better support the APEC mission.
Since 1994, Dr. Donohue has participated in the International Consortium of APEC Study Centers, conducting research and presenting papers at the consortium meetings in Brunei, China and Mexico.
